Virginia Frau

Virginia Frau

I am from Colorado; I have had both professional and volunteer tutoring experience over the past two years. I have worked with a wide range of students in terms of age, socioeconomic background, and ability. My focus is working with students in mathematics, reading, and writing.

About the lesson

Math is important for building problem-solving and logic skills and I find it super fun. I think when a student is allowed to have a true understanding of fundamental concepts, math can be a stimulating challenge rather than a confusing foreign language. I prioritize proving a safe and comfortable space for my students. I want them to know that I am approachable and relatable.

In terms of teaching methods, I love using active recall with my students. Improving a student’s confidence with a topic is the best way to motivate them further. If a student is especially struggling, I like to backtrack to content that I know they can do well. I usually make this into a game to show them just how well they perform when they understand something. Soon, I can connect those earlier concepts to what they’re currently learning/struggling with.

I liked most subjects in school once I learned how to learn and study them effectively. I liked math and English the most because they were a bit more intuitive to me, I could navigate them more comfortably and even push through more easily when I struggle

About Virginia

I think it’s so important as a tutor to supply a space where students are free to fail without shame or disappointment and where they can have someone dedicated to their personal learning needs. My favorite part of tutoring is seeing a student’s confidence grow. Typically, the greatest barrier to learning is self-doubt, and getting to overcome that with my students is a very rewarding process.

Alina

Alina

I live in Georgia. Over the past couple of years, I have tutored elementary and middle school children through my school as a volunteer. I have also tutored ESL in China and ran a STEM night program for elementary school students in my community to teach STEM concepts through activities.

About the lesson

When taking on a new student, I first get familiar with their learning style. I believe this is essential as everyone learns differently. I break down concepts first to be most effective when initially introducing a concept to a student. I also believe that teaching by doing works best. Though it’s important to introduce a concept letting students do it on their own with guidance is active.

To keep my students motivated with encouragement. If a student feels unmotivated and lost, I encourage them by breaking down the concept.  Then learning the practical use of what they are learning in school.

About Alina

Growing up, I found math to be my favorite subject. From multiplication tables to intervals of convergence in infinite series, I enjoyed endless ah-ha moments after an immense struggle for the answer. Ever since elementary school, English was my most challenging subject. I would get tutored weekly as I struggled through reading comprehension.

I’m most familiar with tutoring in math as I grew up helping my little brother with his math homework. In high school, I tutored elementary and middle school math through my school. I find finally understanding a math concept to be satisfying and hope to help students understand the logic behind it as opposed to simply memorizing.

My favorite part about tutoring is watching students realize that they can solve problems that once seemed impossible. What’s most important to me as a tutor is ensuring that the student leaves the session feeling accomplished and with more knowledge than they came in with.

Kayla Johnson

Kayla Johnson

I live in New York. I have been a tutor for three years and a teacher for elementary students for 10 years. My strengths are helping students understand concepts better by breaking them down step by step and rephrasing so that the student understands better.

About the lesson

My approach is to get to know a student by using a student interest questionnaire. Asking students what they need help with and giving them a voice. My teaching style is tactical, auditory, and visual approaches. My favorite digital tools include Pear deck, Near Pod, and Lesson Space.

I keep students motivated by keeping them engaged. As an educator, I direct and mentor the conversation to talk through misconceptions with the student.  Sometimes students feel broken down from being at school all day and now they have to do more work. They sometimes need confidence, mindfulness, and motivation. Students get burnt out just like adults and just need a reset.

About Kayla

My favorite subject in school was and is art. It was when I could most express myself, now it helps me connect to students.  The most challenging subject was math, and that’s why I understand how students need it explained in different ways and time to understand the concept. Students learn at their own pace.

I enjoy it when students get their “Ah ha” moment when it finally clicks. I also enjoy seeing students’ progress and enjoy what they are learning. My strengths are involving student interest in the lessons.

 Michelle Orecchio-Valenca (Perkins)

Michelle Orecchio-Valenca (Perkins)

I have tutored students throughout my 20-year teaching career.  I started teaching in Rhode Island in 2004 before I moved to Central Florida.  I have taught science courses ranging from advanced placement and honors to non-honors classes.

About the lesson

I have taught biology, earth science, physics, and chemistry.  Biology is my favorite by far.  If learning is made fun, the student will learn.  I love to do hands-on activities that are actively engaging, like escape rooms and virtual field trips with my students.

I am familiar with tutoring in the area of science. I love science. I have tutored and taught in the area of Life science, biology, earth, space science, and physical and chemical sciences.  I also tutor AP classes.  It is changing and evolving because we continuously learn about the world around us.  The connection between science to daily life. In biology, we learn about our bodies. Chemistry can be connected with culinary arts and medicine. Physics fuses with areas like carpentry and construction.  Science is all around us all the time.

I enjoy getting a student to love learning when I tutor them.  I love to help them understand the material and become more confident in themselves and in the subject, we are working on. My strengths as a tutor are building confidence by connecting with my students and building a working relationship with them based on their interests and likes

The first thing I do when I get a new student gets to know them. I ask them about their interests and get a sense of how they learn visually or auditory.  Once we get to know each other, I design lessons and activities around their interests.  My teaching style depends on the students I am teaching.  I like to use active and hands-on lab activities, virtual escape rooms, and other fun learning games.

I can keep students motivated by connecting what we are doing to something they like and enjoy.  I get to know my students by learning about what makes them tick as individuals. Then I connect lessons to the students, making them mean something to their life and motivating them to learn.  As far as a challenging student, usually, students are challenged because they lack confidence. If you build a connection with the students, you won’t have a challenge.

Neepa

I live in Georgia. Professionally I am a doctor. I have been teaching kids using the strength of my knowledge of science.

About the lesson

I enjoy explaining things to people by giving various real-world examples and making them imagine or visualize those things clearly. I believe in understanding, if we can understand anything we cannot memorize those things.

My first approach is to establish and friendly bond with a student so they can share their problems easily with me.  I believe if you know the cause you can treat them well from the root. My strategy is to adopt my student’s style of learning, so they grow more.

To keep my students motivated I always appreciate their small victories. It doesn’t matter how small they are cause these victories always ignite a spark in them. I always believe that no student is bad. There are only bad teachers so if you don’t get it, it is my fault, not yours.

Aleena Zia

Aleena Zia

I am in Islamabad, Pakistan. I have been working as a tutor for the past three to four years, gaining valuable teaching experience in that time.

About the lesson

Most important to me is building a supportive learning environment. A low-stress and positive learning environment where students feel supported and encouraged to take risks and make mistakes. When students feel comfortable asking questions and expressing their thoughts and ideas without fear of judgment builds confidence. I pride myself on my encouraging and patient demeanor.

I have several favorite teaching strategies and tools. One of my favorites is to use real-world examples and applications to help students understand complex concepts. The use of visual aids and interactive tools, such as videos, diagrams, and simulations reinforce concepts. These not only help to make the subject matter more engaging, but students also see the practical applications of what they are learning.

To keep my students motivated, I set clear and achievable goals, incorporate fun and interactive activities, and provide positive feedback and encouragement. In the case of a challenging situation, I take a proactive approach to find the root cause of the problem and work to develop a plan to address it. This may involve breaking down the concept into smaller, more manageable pieces, and supplying other examples or resources.

Additionally, I am skilled at breaking down complex topics into more manageable pieces, making it easier for students to understand and master challenging concepts. Each student learns differently, and I adapt methods to meet their needs. I strive to create a supportive and positive learning environment that encourages students to ask questions, make mistakes, and be active in learning.

I live in Miami, Fl. I have 10 years of teaching experience in elementary, high school, and college education.

About the lesson

I understand the student’s needs and strive to find the best approach to boosting their grades, self-esteem, and confidence. My strengths are patience, devotion, and explaining complex concepts to help a student gain success in the classroom. As an interactive and supportive tutor, I use technology to ensure that the learning experience is fun and informative.  I am a patient and dedicated tutor and always strive to create a warm and nurturing environment where students are comfortable and confident.

My approach in the first meeting is to get to know the student and understand them. I ask students questions about their strengths, weaknesses, learning style, time management skills, personality, interests, and goals. I have a calm teaching style when explaining a subject, the student is trying to understand. I build trust by showing genuine interest in their studies and coursework. I also encourage an open dialogue and listen to their experience. It is very beneficial, especially to those students who receive information by listening attentively. One of my favorite teaching strategies is for my students to make mistakes. It is our failures and mistakes that bring upon our greatest successes.

I keep students motivated using verbal praise for successful progress. Each student gets my attention to overcome challenging situations. By supplying positive feedback at once after the accomplishment, the student gains the confidence to achieve greater success.

I currently live in, Georgia, with my two little girls and with our crazy cat Koda. I have been a tutor for over 20 years. I have 19 years of teaching experience. I love the one-on-one experience with a student.

About the lesson

My approach with new students is to find a connection that allows them to open up. My teaching style is relational. I use pop culture and things that are relevant to students to connect learning with them. I love using web-based tools such as Nearpod, EdPuzzle, Quizziz, and Read Theory. I like to use comprehension strategies like Stop-Think-Paraphrase, chunking, and 20-word summary to help students with reading and writing.

I keep a student motivated by learning what interests them, then making connections with the work. If there is a challenging situation, I try to find the root cause and go from there. About Anissa

My favorite subject in school was English because I loved to read. My most challenging subject was math because it never made sense to me.

I love teaching English and ELA because they cover all of my favorite subjects such as reading, literature, language, writing, poetry, etc. What is exciting about these subjects is the mere fact that I love reading. My passion is to help students to love to read and to help them find a genre that they love because once they do that, then they can write about their experience, and when that happens; it excites me. I love teaching Shakespeare the most!

The most important thing to me as a tutor is the relationship that I build with students, so they feel comfortable learning from me. My strengths as a tutor are my ability to connect with students and to meet students where they are.

Shenea Knight

Shenea Knight

I live in Georgia. I have over five years of classroom teaching experience, and this is my first year of tutoring.  My strengths are differentiating instruction based on a student’s specific needs. I have experience creating engaging lessons, worksheets, assessments, and implementation.

About the lesson

Anytime I get a new student. I am observant of our conversations and how they interact with me. I may give them some form of assessment to help me plan. My teaching style is taking a facilitator approach using critical thinking to tap into high-order thinking. The strategy I like to use is to mix various applications to reach different levels of thinkers/learners.

I’m able to keep students motivated by building meaningful relationships early on. When students lack confidence or are not motivated, I try to find what motivates them. Starting with small rewards, then building up to the bigger ones. Using Choice Boards boosts inspiration as students can select from different options. Finally, celebrating small wins keeps students motivated. If there’s a challenge, I focus on resolving it.

About Shenea

When I was in school, my favorite subject was math because my teachers made it fun by using real-world applications. My most challenging subject was History because there were no hands-on activities.

I am used to integrating subjects and technology into my lessons. I have taught multiple grade levels and hold a gifted endorsement. I create rigorous and enriching assignments. Relationship building matters when targeting the needs of students with learning and behavioral disabilities. Building a trusting environment with students and families allows a student to be met where they are academically then we develop where they need to be.

I love the part where you can see the light in the student’s head or that ah-ha moment. My all-time favorite is when they tie their knowledge to real life.  Not only do they understand, but they can take this new concept and apply it to anything. The most important thing to me is understanding that all students can learn.  My strengths are the connections I make with students where they are and excelling them to the next level. I can create and implement standards-based rigorous instruction and activities.

About Bat-Orgil

My favorite subjects in school were math and programming. I enjoyed the problem-solving aspects of these fields and loved the feeling of satisfaction that came with finding the right solution. However, I always struggled with language classes. I found it difficult to understand and apply the rules and concepts and often felt frustrated with my progress. Over time, I learned to appreciate the beauty and complexity of language and gained the confidence to express myself more effectively.

I have taught courses on algorithms, Introduction to Programming, Computer Architecture, and fundamental coding structures like class, inheritance, and OOP. I am comfortable teaching students at all levels, and I prioritize building a strong foundation of understanding while emphasizing logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

I find tutoring rewarding as I watch students’ progress and success transform their lives. It is important for me to connect with each student and understand their needs, and have patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills.

Chandni B H

Chandni B H

I live in Texas. I have an MA in psychology and am currently pursuing an MA in counseling. I adapt the teaching method to cater to my student’s unique needs. As a tutor, the most important thing is to help students reach their goals of understanding and learning new material.

About the lesson

I believe in creating a good rapport with honest communication to nurture learning without a feeling of being judged. I motivate students by letting them know how well they are performing. This encourages them to remain focused and improve. If the student feels helpless, active learning is helpful to gauge their understanding. My teaching strategies include the use of videos, games, puzzles, crosswords, explanations, diagrams, and assessments.

I will encourage the students by letting them know that they have done a great job. I let them know that we both need to put in the effort to master the topic. I can also involve the parents and let them know to encourage their child. If there is inappropriate behavior, I will communicate with the student about their behavior and how it is affecting their learning process. Then create some ground rules to help the sessions go smoothly in the future.

I worked with students one on one and in groups of four to five. What is most exciting about these subjects is how students relate to the foundations of real-world functions. Using unique ways to teach these basic concepts to students develops a deep understanding.

My strengths include patience when they reach a roadblock. Using my adaptability, I can shift methods depending on the individual needs of the studentWith empathy, I listen to the students’ concerns and encourage them to reach their goals.

Chauncie Williams

I live in Tennessee. For the last 24 years, I have taught at a public middle school in my area. Early in my career, I tutored students. This allows me to work one and one with students to help them reach their educational goals. I love learning along with students exploring academics and life skills.

About the lesson

When I meet new students, it is so important to create a safe, respectful learning environment where students want to listen and learn. Using questions, we get to know each other and build a relationship. My teaching style is student-centered. I support my students while they learn. Active learning is my go-to strategy, this allows students to participate in learning and take ownership of it.

If a student has an issue, we work through why the task is hard or why they are frustrated. Sometimes students just need time to think and talk about something else. After this redirection, a new conversation about the solutions can begin.

About Chauncie

My favorite subject in school was Math. I found myself able to work out solutions if the instruction was missed or not informative enough. My most challenging subject was Science. I struggled to grasp an understanding of it. To this day it is the one subject I’m just not confident in.

My focus is the subjects of Math and English. These topics are important to a student’s academic career. Learning to read and write turns into writing essays and reading newspapers which is essential for life now and in the future. Reading can take a student into another life without leaving this one; being a part of their developing a love of reading is fun.

I am based in California and available to work remotely in all time zones. I have been a tutor for 20+ years. I have a BA in Drama & Theatre from Trinity College, Dublin Ireland/the University of California, Irvine.

About the lesson

When taking on a new student, I like to take time to get to know the student’s personality and help them feel comfortable as well as assess their strengths, and weaknesses in the subject. I have an upbeat, fun, and creative teaching style. I enjoy using performing arts tools such as improv to help a student engage with the material.

I keep a student motivated with short-term and long-term attainable goals. If a student faces a challenging situation, I will help them break down a concept into first principles and progress at a suitable pace until the matter is grasped.

My favorite subject in school was English and language arts as I am passionate about great stories. I found mathematics challenging but was fortunate enough to have a wonderful tutor in my father so ultimately, I always succeeded in my tasks.

My strength is my background in the performing arts enabling me to create fun, creative as well as educational sessions.

I enjoy helping students grow and reach their goals. The most important thing to me as a tutor is that the student builds confidence and skills in themselves and their chosen subject. My strengths are creativity and helping students connect in a positive way to the material.

English, language arts, and performing arts. I love these subjects because we can relate the characters and themes to everyday life.

Daisy O'Flaherty

Daisy O'Flaherty

I live in Massachusetts. I enjoy reading and writing and want to share my love of these skills with all types of learners. English for me is the most critical subject. Students need to write well for writing essays in any subject. Comprehension is important for overall interaction in life.

About the lesson

The uniqueness of tutoring appeals to me the most. The ability to tailor learning to the individual student and ensure they enjoy and learn as much as possible. When meeting a new student, I familiarize myself with the student’s strengths and weaknesses. I then introduce reading and writing at their comprehension level, then build their skills from there. To keep a student motivated by using topics they enjoy a focus. If a challenging situation arises, I make sure the student is comfortable with changing topics. Then try to make sure they know what it is they find hard. Then guide them through easier exercises to see if they can understand the material.

About Daisy

My favorite subject in school was English. I found it easiest and the way we can create all different types of stories with many different formats with the same words. My least favorite subject was math. I’ve never been able to understand it. Part of it is my learning disabilities, but most of it is how confusing it can be.

David Marshall

David Marshall

I live in Georgia. Over 20 years at the K-12 level with special education included. I enjoy tutoring because I get to help students understand how to solve mathematical problems in different ways. Help them to have a better understanding of the reading passage. The most exciting thing about math and ELA is that it’s the most important subject matter we use in real-life situations. I enjoy working with exceptional children that have Autism and other learning disabilities.

About the lesson

My approach in taking on new students is to find out their weaknesses. My teaching style is to be encouraging and helpful. There is never a stupid question or big mistake because in math we learn from our mistakes and other ways to solve problems. I am direct in my teaching methods.

Some of the strategies I use in tutoring are lesson objective transparency, experiential learning, addressing mistakes, modeling, and kinesthetic teaching. I keep my students motivated by making the subject goal fun and real-life learning scenarios. If I have a challenging situation; I would find the best method to teach for a more effective learning experience.

Elyse Thompson

Elyse Thompson

I live in Texas. For the past two years, I have enjoyed mentoring and tutoring a wide range of students from elementary to high school who are having difficulties with a certain subject. My strengths include being hardworking, attentive, having strong communication skills, being creative, and being open-minded.

About the lesson

My approach in taking on new students is to follow a few procedures. The first session serves as an introductory session to inquire about what they hope to gain from tutoring and explain what they expect from me. I want to make sure they are comfortable as possible. My teaching approach would be described as knowledgeable, adaptable, facilitator, and demonstrator. I want the students to be self-sufficient enough to sort things out on their own with confidence.

About Elyse

I enjoy science and am an undergraduate studying chemistry with a minor in biology. Chemistry can be found everywhere around you! It’s in your food, clothing, water, medications, and cleaning products. Chemistry excites me more since it challenges my thinking ability. It’s a wonderful mix! English is the most difficult subject for me since I dislike writing papers, especially when they are about subjects, I am not interested in writing about.

Teaching others is a highly gratifying experience for me. I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to help students reach their goals and motivate them on a personal and intellectual level. The most important thing to me is gaining a student’s trust through developing a mutual understanding so that they can lean on me. My strengths would be that I am enthusiastic about what I tutor. I am an excellent listener and communicator, so I can understand the students’ misunderstandings and errors. I motivate and push students to do their best with patience.

Math and science are my strongest subjects. I am eager to make a difference. I recognize that math can be difficult, but numbers help us understand the world, and math helps us understand numbers. Science is engaging and entertaining.

Jessica Allen

Jessica Allen

I live in East Texas. This is my 16th year as a certified teacher. My goal is to supply a positive educational experience for students. My charismatic approach to teaching is engaging and purposeful.

About the lesson

The subjects I focus on tutoring are Reading and Math. In my tutoring session with students, I use a high-interest student survey to learn more about who I am working with. Then I develop a pre-assessment of the content we will cover. I motivate students in a variety of ways, one is creating a paced calendar with goals and a daily agenda. Setting these daily expectations and closing out each lesson with the “favorite part of the session” develops intrinsic motivation. Students become intrinsically motivated to learn when they can successfully complete assignments.

Students below the second grade are often learning to read. Mastering learning to read is essential to the following academic years. In third grade and beyond the reading focus shifts to learning through reading. One of the strategies important to me as a tutor is pre-teaching academic vocabulary. This increases comprehension of content.

About Jessica

I did not like school at all. I work hard to be an advocate for fun learning and engaging activities- curriculum and essential skills + fun= successful students.

My strength as a tutor is assessment guides instruction. I use formative assessments during a lesson to find the momentum of a student from the start to the end of each lesson.

Kay Lane

Kay Lane

I live in Georgia. I have been a tutor now for six years. Starting out I worked with individual and group tutoring for college history, literature and composition, and biology. I expanded my horizons to K-12 math, ELA, and life science tutoring.

About the lesson

When taking on a new pupil, my first priority is to build rapport. I always think “If you can’t reach someone, you can’t teach someone”. I either administer a learning style assessment or have the student tell me their learning style before continuing with some diagnostic activities. Knowing a student’s learning style is essential to figuring out sustainable study skills. My approach to teaching is rife with games and discussions that encourage critical thinking and “real-world” applications of school standards. I like to think this interactive style keeps my students both entertained and motivated to learn more. In the face of adversity, I encourage my students to express themselves by being open to the idea that all challenges are surmountable.

About Kay

I vividly remember, as a child, being curious about every plant and animal around me. Naturally, science was my favorite subject from grade school and even into college. Math was always the most challenging for me because my cumulative knowledge of algebraic principles was not the strongest in elementary and middle school. With diligence and work ethic, though, I finally grasped arithmetic and grew to enjoy it!

Some of my strengths include empathy, attention to detail, and constant moral support. I enjoy seeing students gain insight and confidence as they master different topics. There is nothing more fulfilling than having them prove their critical thinking and logic skills after putting in such hard work. It is important that my students leave having self-efficacy, a growth mindset, and at least an appreciation for why education/ learning is important for their personal and professional goals. I foster this using my interpersonal skills, humor, zeal, and passion for life-long learning.

The subjects I tutor are social studies, especially world history, and civics. I believe grasping the significance of the past can help make for a productive future. Social studies always make for interesting Socratic seminars. I am also familiar with elementary and middle school science. Science teaches us to see the world around us and to also be healthily skeptical. I am biased towards science as it has always been my favorite subject, but I think this subject helps foster an appreciation for the physical world. Lastly, I am familiar with elementary and middle school math, especially algebraic principles. I find this subject interesting because it is the language of science, and it is like puzzle-solving equations!

I have worked as a tutor for over thirty years. I enjoy sharing the passion I have for learning Spanish. Spanish was always my favorite subject. Helping others better their skills and knowledge is what is most important to me. I love it when my students see themselves getting better.

About the lesson

The first approach I take is to get to know my new student. I want to build a relationship of trust. Then I like to see what their goals are for the subject and meet them where they are to build more together. Some of my favorite strategies are mnemonic devices along with repetitions and fun voices to follow up to ensure they remember new vocabulary or rules.

I remind them that they got this. If there is a challenging situation, I try to relate it to sports, games, etc. that they might have been challenged by before too. Then I will go back to whatever might be the challenge to resolve the concern.

About Michael

Spanish was my favorite subject. I quickly was able to use it when I went surfing in Mexico, at work at the restaurant I was at as a teen, and then as a missionary for two years. The most challenging subject for me in school was Statistics due to the long formulas that had to be used.

My strengths are the ways I help and challenge myself at the same time. I also use fun reminiscent ways and voices to repeat words, grammar rules, etc. into memory.

Nina Davis

Nina Davis

I live in Georgia. I have tutored elementary to higher-level education students for about five years. One of my strengths is my genuine concern for others. I’ve always been the type of person that enjoyed helping others become better versions of themselves or reach their goal.

About the lesson

When meeting new students, I first learn what they are good at and what they like. After I have a good understanding of their strengths, I take the time to learn about their weaknesses. Meeting a student where they are and scaffolding them up through the zones of learning. Many students today are comfortable with technology, I take advantage of educational games and videos to hold students’ attention and entertain them as they learn. Developing fun projects that require a lot of hands-on engagement allows students to apply what they have learned realistically.

I keep students interested by incorporating their interests into the learning material. In a challenging situation, I believe the resolution is to always make sure the students feel seen and understood. From there, they are generally more willing to be open to communicating their needs.

About Nina

Growing up, I always loved school. My favorite subject had always been math, but I enjoyed all the subjects. I had a hard time choosing a major because I could have been happy with any of them. My least favorite subject was ELA. While today I can appreciate the subject much more, as a kid, it felt tedious to have to learn about a language I was already able to speak.

I enjoy the process of watching someone improve over time. I believe even the smallest growth is an achievement toward reaching their goal. The most important thing as a tutor is to understand what interests and motivates students. Viewing them first as people with different strengths, weaknesses, and dreams helps me in my role to help them in getting to where they want to be in life. My strength in teaching comes from my determination to learn about each student individually as a person first. From there, I can understand their unique abilities and concerns and adjust my teaching to support and encourage them.

I have the most experience with math and writing. I love tutoring in math because many people view math as a challenging subject and feel most excited when I’m able to change that way of thinking. Writing is a creative outlet. Each person has a different written voice and a different way of explaining things. I get excited when a student begins coming into their writing voice and when their personalities are reflected through their writing.

About the lesson

The subjects I tutor are math and reading. Using hands-on activities along, with the visual and verbal teaching styles, I can know what my student’s weaknesses and strengths are. Tools such as compare and contrast, write to learn, reading for meaning, moving around often, and allowing the student to teach me the topic allow the student to master each challenging topic. This style of motivation is my strength as a tutor. Establishing healthy boundaries with my students also allows them to clearly understand my expectations of them.
